Awsworth Youth and Community Centre are looking for a Centre Manager to develop our business and increase our offering to young people in the community.

The post will be for 20 hours per week with the flexibility to cover evenings and occasional weekends. The rate of pay is £12.50 per hour. This role will initially be on a 1-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extending depending on increased revenue and secured funding.

Role

This diverse role requires a range of skills and qualities to ensure the long-term sustainability of Awsworth Youth and Community Centre. Our focus is on offering a facility for children to play, relax and have fun within a safe space.  We currently hire out the building to a number of regular users, including the Methodist Church, photographic clubs and as a rehearsal room for a local band!  As we are growing we recognise that we can offer so much more if we have someone with the right skills and passion to help us do so.

We are a small charity whose success depends on getting the right person to fulfil this role. We are looking for someone with experience working with children, a sound knowledge of Safeguarding procedures, customer service, using social media platforms to engage with the community, marketing and creating content for our website. The ideal candidate will also have experience in the Voluntary Sector and recruiting volunteers. A recognised First Aid qualification would also be an advantage.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing in new hirers, opening/ closing the building after use, identifying funding and writing bids/applications, cleaning, administration, ensuring we have sufficient stock and replenishing as necessary. They will also be required to work on at least one evening per week (currently Thursdays but this is subject to change) to operate the Youth Club alongside our volunteers.  Other duties may be required in agreement with the Committee and Trustees.

The Centre manager will be directed by and work closely with the CharityTrustees, with whom ultimate responsibility for the Centre lies.

All successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
